How to Choose Your Next Destination

The right destination depends on four things: how many days you have, when you can travel, your budget and the kind of trip you enjoy. A 7-day trip works best in one country with a simple route, while two weeks gives you room for a second region or a road trip. If you are still deciding, our guide on how to choose a travel destination walks you through the process step by step, and how to research a travel destination shows what to check before you book.

How We Build Our Destination Guides

Every guide on My Globe Journey is planned around real trip lengths and real travel logistics, not just a list of attractions. When we write about entry rules, transport or opening times, we check official sources such as national tourism boards, rail and airline operators and government travel pages. Prices are given as ranges with the year they apply to, because costs change. We review our guides as travel conditions change, and if you spot something out of date, please let us know. You can read more about our approach on the About page.

Which destinations are easiest for first-time travelers?

Japan, South Korea, Portugal and Iceland are popular with first-time international travelers because they are safe, well organized and easy to get around. Each has a ready-made itinerary on this site.

How far in advance should I plan a trip?
